PROPULSION GENERATORS FOR SUPERYACHTS
On a superyacht with electric or hybrid propulsion, the generator set feeds the drivetrain. Propulsion demand swings continuously: from slow maneuvering in the marina to sustained cruising load, sometimes with hotel load added on the same busbar. A generator set built for a flat load profile cannot follow that swing. What matters here is response, not just output: how quickly the set adapts as demand shifts.
Custom built
Configuration follows the propulsion architecture: Zenoro works out power output, speed range, control logic, and classification requirements per project. Zenoro designs, builds, and tests every generator set in-house in Ravenstein, the Netherlands. Every set in the range is custom-built, engineered to fit where standard configurations fall short. Zenoro’s engineering department joins the project early, working with the naval architect, shipyard, and the owner’s rep team to define the machinery room layout. With experience built up over the years, we advise on both straightforward and more technically demanding designs.
Our systems
The Zenoro marine generator covers propulsion applications from single-unit installations to multi-set configurations, available in fixed or variable speed. Zenoro matches engine, alternator, and control logic to the propulsion architecture, balancing ease of operation, total cost of ownership, and onboard guest comfort. Above 130 kWe, Zenoro equips the generator set with a Xeamos aftertreatment system as standard: DPF-only, SCR-only, or a combined DPF/SCR configuration. Below 130 kW, an aftertreatment system is available as an option.
